We are not getting a pet for the first few years we are married. Heaven forbid we should want to go on an overnight date to an exotic place or do something exciting while we are newlyweds, I will not want to worry about our pet at home. Furthermore, we will not own a pet unless one of our children desperately wants one and promises to take full responsibility of them.
Yes, I will wake up at 2 a.m. to take care of a sick child who will love me and take care of me when I am older, but no, I will not take out our 12-year-old family dog with bladder issues at 4 a.m. I'm sorry. That is just not something I care to do. If you really want your own "Man's Best Friend" (we will never get a cat, you obviously know I am allergic), that will either be your responsibility or that of our child. If need be, we will get a fish. But no, I will still not clean the tank, although I will agree to feed them their dinner if no one is home. Just so we're on the same page upfront.Love, Me
