Dear Copper,

Tonight we played a "game" where we guessed where the scenic images on your television (a la screensaver) were originally taken. Colorado, Ireland, Hawaii...? We stared at that screen for a good 5-7 minutes.

It's reasons like this that I know we are compatible.

This morning we sent text messages of affirmation to each other about why we love each other. It was one of the best part of my day.

But I also appreciated this text from you tonight after our game of Settlers of Catan... "If I had a port for two wheats for whatever... I'd trade for cuddles" Hehe

Dear Copper,

Things we have learned from our talk tonight:

1. If I say anything commitment-related, it must be in writing for you to hold me to my word/absolute truth.

2. You will never call me names, no matter how angry you are.

3. I will not always come home and shut our bedroom door.

4. We will not go to bed angry.

5. There is no "try" in our relationship. Once we say those vows we are stuck together, for better or worse.

6. I will always be afraid of driving on the highway in thunderstorms. But I do like piña coladas and dancing in the rain... Just kidding, we did not realize that from our talk tonight. But I do like those.

Dear Copper,

I couldn't sleep at all last night from the stress of the phone conversation we had right before bed. All day, I felt frustrated with you and tried to assess your anger and whether or not I could approach you for conversation. We only talked for about 10 minutes earlier, but that short amount of time helped give me a little bit of peace of mind to sleep slightly better tonight (you know, 6-7 hours instead of 5). 

Let's never go to bed angry, okay?

Just kidding, I would still be able to... But you liking them is a major plus.

Anyways, one of my favorite moments from today was driving down the highway from Ironton this morning listening to Spotify with my shoes off and toes on your dash. I remember looking over at you in your navy blue polo to match your (semi) blue-ish eyes and thinking how easy it was to fall in love with you. No games, no complications, just a trust of knowing that you will love me with all of your heart. I just love you so much, baby!

We took my ring back to Zales to get the right size today... They told us we should have it back in 2 weeks :) We also had art night tonight using the canvases you bought me for my birthday. Sitting down and painting with you while listening to the Interstellar soundtrack reminded me of how much I love you and reiterated the fact I know you are the one I want to spend the rest of my life with. You then encouraged that we try some mindfulness while cuddling together... Your touch, your breathing/heart beat, your fresh linen smell, the feel of your warmth physically and emotionally... I can't even begin to explain how wonderful of a moment it was with you (of course, many are). Can't wait for all those moments we'll share in the future!

The whole world knows we're engaged now (a.k.a. we made it FB official today)! It's so exciting seeing all the love and support from our family and friends come together all in one place. It was also your first time meeting some of my co-workers tonight at a trivia night, and after we went back for some cuddling at your house. There is no better feeling than falling asleep in your arms... Thanks for letting me drool on you, it's one of the reasons I love you so much ;)

Of course, through all the soon-to-be hoopla, I just wanted to remind you how excited I am to marry you and one day be your wife. Because if at the end of the day you end up with the person you wanted to marry, all that wedding planning you did was successful.

Dear Copper (a.k.a. My Fiancé),

We're ENGAGED!!! I'll have to type the story for recap memories later :) Love you!

On our one year anniversary, we went to the same park we went to after our first (official) date (after having dinner at the same restaurant, where we ate with a candle talking about why we loved each other). You started leading me down the path toward the pavilion where we had our first kiss, but teenagers were skateboarding there, so you brought me over by a picnic table near the pond instead. You sat down on the bench part, while I opted to sit on the table part. You looked up at me and said, "well, you know I love you, right?" before pulling out the cross necklace your parents gave you from Ireland, which had the ring attached. You then got down on one knee and asked me to marry you. My response was "absolutely" with a big smile. 

We then went to have a nice man with a dog take our pictures by one of the picnic benches closer to the lake (I wanted to try and recreate my Nana and Papa's engagement night picture), but we chose the most technology inept man ever... At least we got a good picture of me laughing. And our selfies actually turned out pretty well... Go figure.

We started walking back to the car when we noticed kids playing capture the flag with glow stick bracelets. We each picked one up and head back toward the car, and I put mine on my wrist. We both called our families, and my mother insisted we stop by the house (she had kept my Nana and aunt there all day playing Scrabble). We did FaceTime/calls on multiple phones before opening a few gifts (a cross and picture frame). Then we head back to Hollywood (room 470, good luck for you I suppose!) for the rest of the night.

When we got back, you popped open the bottle of champagne and we sipped our bubbly from the engraved flutes that your parents gave us with "blessed man" and my future last name on them. We were able to enjoy some celebrating on our own before finally heading to bed as a newly engaged couple :)

I just can't even begin to imagine my life with someone other than you. Yes, every now and then I have questioned whether or not we are perfect for each other, but despite all those temporary hesitations, I know without a doubt that you are the one I am to spend the rest of my life with. Tonight we stopped in Big Lots! to briefly look at couches/furniture for the first time. I looked up at you, smiled, and asked you to remember that moment of us standing in the aisles. I wanted you to remember for when we are wrinkly and in retirement with gray hair, that moment we first looked at couches for our first home. And even though our first couch or first home may not last forever, I promise to love you just as much in the future as I do now. That is something that will never change.
